P-40 "CV-V" Low Top Canvas Shoes
This design is based on the P-40 Kittyhawk M.1 “CV-V” (Serial ET953) flown by World War II Australian fighter ace S/Ldr Bobby Gibbes whilst serving with RAAF 3 Sqn in North Africa. Gibbes was the longest-serving wartime commanding officer of No. 3 Squadron RAAF. He was officially credited with 10¼ aerial victories and five aircraft probably destroyed with a further 16 damaged. He commanded No. 3 Squadron in North Africa from February 1942 to April 1943, apart from a brief period when he was wounded. By wars end he was awarded the Distinguished Service Order and Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar.
