The unit sign for the 53rd Aviation Detachment, United States Army, which operated CH-47 Chinook gun ships from Vung Tau during 1966. The unit adopted a flying skull logo depicted with two rotor blades and gunfire coming from the eyes and mouth. The detachment was led by Lieutenant Colonel Tedesco. At least four CH-47 gun ships were deployed to the 53rd Aviation Detachment and these were numbered and named 64-13145, 'Co$t of Living'; 64-13149, 'Easy Money'; 64-13151, 'Stump Jumper' and 64-13154, 'Birth Control'.
