Formed in 1941, No. 416 Squadron RCAF was a Canadian fighter squadron that served in RAF Fighter Command during WWII. Initially flying the Supermarine Spitfire, it took part in D-Day operations, escort missions, and air superiority roles over Northwest Europe. After the war, the squadron operated Sabres, CF-104 Starfighters, and later CF-18 Hornets before disbanding in 2006.
