The Norden bombsight, developed by Dutch-American engineer Carl Norden in the 1930s, was an advanced mechanical device used by the U.S. military during World War II to improve bombing accuracy. It functioned as an analog computer, allowing bombardiers to input variables such as airspeed, altitude, and wind drift to calculate the optimal bomb release point. Despite its sophistication and the high expectations placed upon it—often claimed to be able to "drop a bomb into a pickle barrel" from high altitudes—the bombsight's performance in combat was less impressive. Factors like mechanical complexity, the need for clear weather conditions, and the challenges of high-altitude bombing reduced its effectiveness. Interestingly, despite being a closely guarded secret, the design was compromised before the war; German intelligence had acquired the plans as early as 1938

As advertised. My kid is the envy of the school!
