Rosie The Riveter "We Can Do It!" Inspired Spiral Notebook
Rosie the Riveter and the famous "We Can Do It!" poster are enduring symbols of female empowerment and contributions to the war effort during World War II. "Rosie" represented the millions of women who entered the workforce, particularly in defence industries, to fill roles left vacant by men serving in the military. These women worked as riveters, welders, machinists, and more, building aircraft, ships, and munitions essential to the Allied victory.
The "We Can Do It!" poster, created in 1943 by artist J. Howard Miller for Westinghouse Electric as part of an internal campaign, wasn’t originally associated with Rosie the Riveter. It gained widespread fame decades later and became a feminist icon. Meanwhile, the "Rosie" character was popularised by a 1942 song and Norman Rockwell's painting on the cover of The Saturday Evening Post. Together, these representations celebrated the strength, resilience, and determination of women on the home front.
