RAF SEAC (1942-1946) Roundel White Mug

RAF SEAC (1942-1946) Roundel White Mug

$9.99 USD

The RAF used this two-tone blue roundel on aircraft serving under South East Asia Command and in the China Burma India theatre from mid-1942 until 1946. The red centre was removed to reduce the risk of confusion with the Japanese hinomaru.

At first, units replaced the red centre with white, but the bright marking reduced the effectiveness of the aircraft’s camouflage. A paler blue was then produced by mixing the standard roundel blue with white in roughly equal proportions. Many aircraft operating in the CBI theatre also carried roundels and fin flashes at about half the standard size.
