The P-51 Mustang was a highly successful American fighter aircraft of World War II, renowned for its long-range and high performance. During World War II, approximately 9,603 P-51 Mustangs were produced at North American Aviation's Inglewood, California, plant. This facility was one of the primary production sites for the P-51, contributing significantly to the total of over 15,000 Mustangs built throughout the war. The last P-51 Mustang to see service was with the Dominican Air Force, which retired the aircraft in 1984.
