P-40 Warhawk College Style Unisex Sweatshirt
The P-40 was primarily manufactured by Curtiss-Wright at their plant in Buffalo, New York. Between 1939 and 1944, around 13,738 P-40s were produced at this facility, making it one of the most widely built American fighters of the war. The Buffalo plant's output was crucial in supplying Allied forces with this durable aircraft, which served in various theatres from North Africa to the Pacific, playing a significant role in the early years of World War II.
The P-40 Warhawk is probably best known for its service with the "Flying Tigers," recognizable by its shark-mouth nose art, who defended China before the U.S. entered the war. The P-40 was tough and reliable, excelling in low-altitude combat and ground attack roles despite being outclassed by some enemy fighters in speed and maneuverability. Its shark-mouth nose art became iconic, symbolizing the aircraft's aggressive reputation.
