OV-10 Bronco Structured Twill Cap
The OV-10 Bronco was a rugged twin-turboprop light attack and observation aircraft developed by North American Rockwell for counter-insurgency and forward air control. First flown on July 16, 1965, it entered service in the late 1960s and served with the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and later with forces in countries such as Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, Venezuela, and the Philippines.
A total of 360 aircraft were built. The Bronco saw combat in the Vietnam War, Operation Desert Storm, and anti-drug and counter-insurgency operations in Latin America and Southeast Asia. The U.S. military retired the OV-10 from front-line service by the 1990s, although it briefly returned to combat trials in the 2015 fight against ISIS under U.S. Special Operations Command.
Its excellent visibility, endurance, and ability to operate from rough airstrips made it a favourite among FAC pilots and ground troops. Several OV-10s remain in limited international and civilian use today.
