The Hawker Sea Fury was one of the fastest piston-engine fighters ever built and served as a carrier-based aircraft for the Royal Navy and other air forces during the late 1940s and 1950s. Introduced in 1947, the Sea Fury was a development of the Hawker Tempest, designed for high performance and versatility. Powered by the Bristol Centaurus radial engine, it could reach speeds of 460 mph and carried a formidable armament of four 20mm cannons, along with rockets or bombs for ground-attack missions.

The Sea Fury gained fame during the Korean War, where it performed ground-attack missions and even engaged jet-powered MiG-15s, famously shooting one down in 1952, showcasing its capabilities even in the jet age. It served with several air forces, including those of Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands. Though retired from military service by the late 1950s, the Sea Fury remains popular in air racing and historic aviation, admired for its sleek design and remarkable performance. A total of 864 Sea Furies were built, cementing its legacy as one of the finest piston-engine fighters ever made.
