Hudson Union Jack Short-Sleeve Unisex T-Shirt
The Hudson became one of the RAF’s most important early-war maritime patrol aircraft and served extensively with Coastal Command in anti-submarine warfare, convoy escort, reconnaissance, transport, and training roles. Hudson crews achieved the RAF’s first confirmed air-to-air victory of the war in Oct 1939 and later became the first aircraft credited with forcing the surrender of a German U-boat when U-570 surrendered in Aug 1941. The type also served widely with Commonwealth air forces, including 247 aircraft operated by the Royal Australian Air Force, approximately 248 by the Royal Canadian Air Force, and around 94 by the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Hudsons operated across the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean theatres before the aircraft was gradually supplemented and replaced in RAF service by newer maritime patrol aircraft including the Lockheed Ventura, Short Sunderland, and Consolidated B-24 Liberator. More than 2,900 Hudsons were built during the war.
