The Hawker Sea Hawk was one of the Royal Navy's first jet-powered carrier-based fighters, entering service in 1953. Designed by Sydney Camm and initially developed by Hawker, it was handed over to Armstrong Whitworth for production. Powered by a Rolls-Royce Nene turbojet, the Sea Hawk was known for its simplicity, reliability, and ease of handling, making it a workhorse of the Fleet Air Arm.

The Sea Hawk was primarily used for ground-attack missions and fleet defence, capable of carrying a mix of rockets, bombs, and drop tanks for extended range. It saw action during the Suez Crisis in 1956, where it performed ground-attack missions with great success. The aircraft was also exported to several countries, including India, where it played a key role in the 1965 Indo-Pakistani War.

A total of 542 Sea Hawks were built, and while it was eventually replaced by more advanced jets like the Supermarine Scimitar and de Havilland Sea Vixen, the Sea Hawk holds a significant place in naval aviation history as one of the pioneers of carrier-based jet operations.
