The F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic interceptor and fighter-bomber developed in the early 1950s by Clarence “Kelly” Johnson’s team at Lockheed’s Skunk Works. First flown on 4 March 1954, it entered U.S. Air Force service in 1958 as part of the Century Series. Nicknamed “the missile with a man in it” for its slender fuselage and short, stubby wings, the F-104 set multiple world records, including speed (2,259.82 km/h / 1,404.19 mph in 1958) and altitude (103,389 ft in 1959).
Powered by a single General Electric J79 turbojet, the F-104 could exceed Mach 2 and was armed with a 20mm M61 Vulcan cannon and up to 4,000 lb (1,800 kg) of ordnance. Although advanced for its time, it was unforgiving to fly, leading to high accident rates in some air forces.
The Starfighter served with over a dozen nations, including Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Taiwan. While its U.S. service was relatively brief (withdrawn from front-line USAF units by 1969), many allies flew upgraded variants into the 2000s — Italy’s last operational F-104s retired in 2004.
In combat, the F-104 saw limited U.S. use in Vietnam for ground attack and escort, and it also served in conflicts involving Pakistan and Taiwan.

If an order does not show as “delivered” by the carrier’s tracking, and it has been more than 60 days since the order was placed, you may request a refund or have a replacement sent. At the sole discretion of I Love A Hangar, the “60-Day Delivery Time Guarantee” may be nullified or extended due to random events such as adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, pandemics, political unrest, or postal worker labour disputes that may impact various delivery locations. The “60-Day Delivery Time Guarantee” is also nullified in the following instances:
✈ Incorrect or incomplete address information provided by customers.
✈ Deliveries that are uncollected by customers from designated collection points.
✈ Missed or failed delivery attempts due to the recipient not being available.
✈ Missed or failed delivery attempts due to the business being closed or unavailable during the carrier's operating hours where the shipping address provided is a business.
✈ Orders that show as delivered by the carrier to the address provided by the customer.
✈ Orders marked as “returned to sender” by the carrier.
Notification for EU Customers:
