C-47 "Kwicherbichen" (Top View) Die Cut Magnet

This design is based on C-47 Dakota “Kwicherbichen” FZ692 (Serial 42-92489). It was delivered to the RAF in February 1944 and joined 233 Squadron at RAF Blakehill Farm. On 6th June 1944, 233 Squadron fielded thirty Dakotas, and the D-Day airlift became the Squadron’s first combat operation as a transport unit.  The aircraft was painted with black and white ‘D-Day’ invasion stripes over its olive drab green; it wore its individual aircraft code letters ‘UK’ on either side of its nose and as well as the name “Kwicherbichen” painted on the nose.  The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight C-47 ZA947 is currently painted in the colors of FZ692 “Kwicherbichen”.

FZ692 was transferred to No 437 Squadron RCAF where it served out the rest of the war. The aircraft now forms part of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Centre collection, where it wears the paint scheme it would have worn at the end of World War II with 437 Squadron RCAF.
