P-38 "Skidoo" Low Top Canvas
This design is based on the P-38 Lightning (Serial Number 42-66504, Nose 162) nicknamed "Skidoo” flown by 1st Lt. Perry "P. J." Dahl of the 432nd Fighter Squadron, 475th Fighter Group. Lt Dahl was an American fighter pilot and ace with a total of 9 enemy planes destroyed. During the Korean war he remained in the US and worked as a test pilot. Later he flew combat tours during the Vietnam War. He was eventually promoted to the rank of Colonel and retired from the Air Force on June 30, 1978. His military decorations include Silver Star, Legion of Merit Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal x2, Air Medal x4, Air Force Commendation Medal and numerous others.
