This aircraft was the first "regular" Blackbird (neither test vehicle nor trainer) delivered to the Air Force. 958 left the assembly line on July 22, 1965, and made her first flight with pilot Bill Weaver and RSO George Andre on December 15 of that year. In 1976 she set two world records as follows:- 27th July 1976. World Absolute Speed record of 2,092.29mph over a closed circuit of 1,000km. Flown by Capt. Pat Blesdoe & Maj. John Fuller. 28th July 1976. World Absolute Speed record of 2,193.167mph over a 15/25km straight course. Flown by Capt. Eldon Joersz & Maj. George Morgan. Her last flight was to Robins AFB in February 1990 flown by Don Watkins & Bob Fowlkes. Her total fying time was 2288.9 hours.
