Armed with four 20 mm Hispano cannon and capable of carrying rockets or bombs, the aircraft also undertook ground-attack missions when required. Sea Venoms saw operational service during the Suez Crisis, where Fleet Air Arm aircraft carried out combat operations against Egyptian targets. The Sea Venom remained in frontline Royal Navy service until the early 1960s before being replaced by more advanced aircraft such as the de Havilland Sea Vixen.
