The de Havilland Sea Venom was a British carrier-based jet fighter and all-weather interceptor operated by the Royal Navy during the 1950s and early 1960s. Developed by de Havilland from the RAF’s de Havilland Venom fighter, the Sea Venom retained the distinctive twin-boom layout of the earlier Vampire and was adapted for carrier operations with folding wings, strengthened landing gear, and an arrestor hook. Powered by a single de Havilland Ghost turbojet engine, the Sea Venom entered Royal Navy service in 1954 as a two-seat all-weather fighter equipped with airborne interception radar.

The Sea Venom operated from Royal Navy aircraft carriers including HMS Albion, HMS Bulwark, and HMS Eagle, serving primarily in fleet air defence and interception roles during the early Cold War. Armed with four 20 mm Hispano cannon and capable of carrying rockets or bombs, the aircraft also undertook ground-attack missions when required. Sea Venoms saw operational service during the Suez Crisis, where Fleet Air Arm aircraft carried out combat operations against Egyptian targets. The Sea Venom remained in frontline Royal Navy service until the early 1960s before being replaced by more advanced aircraft such as the de Havilland Sea Vixen.
