RAF Type A.2 Roundel White Mug

$9.99 USD

The Type A.2 roundel was a wartime variation of the yellow-bordered Type A.1. It retained the red, white and blue sections of the Type A roundel but used a narrower yellow outer ring, giving approximate proportions of 1:3:5:6 rather than the Type A.1’s 1:3:5:7.

It appeared on a limited number of British military aircraft from around 1940 to 1942, including some bombers and British-ordered Grumman Martlets delivered from American factories. The yellow border helped the marking remain visible against camouflage, while its reduced width made it less prominent than the broader border of the Type A.1.

The Type A.2 was never widely used and was replaced alongside other early-war markings when Type C and Type C.1 roundels were introduced during 1942.
