Size: 11 oz
The RAAF introduced this blue-and-white roundel in Sep 1942 after removing red from its national markings to reduce the risk of aircraft being mistaken for Japanese forces. The white centre measured three-fifths of the roundel’s total diameter, creating a broad white centre surrounded by a comparatively narrow blue band.

This pattern could be created by painting the red centre of an existing red, white and blue roundel white. The new white area merged with the original white ring, producing the 3:5 proportions. The RAAF officially moved to a smaller white centre in Jul 1943, although the change was gradual and aircraft continued carrying 3:5 roundels into 1944.
