The P-47 Thunderbolt, nicknamed the “Jug,” was a robust and versatile American fighter-bomber used extensively in World War II. It excelled in bomber escort, ground attack, and air superiority roles. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine, the P-47 was fast, heavily armed with 8 .50-caliber machine guns, and could carry bombs or rockets for ground strikes.

From 1941 to 1945, over 15,600 P-47s were produced. The aircraft was built primarily in three cities, including Farmingdale, New York (Republic Aviation’s main plant), Evansville, Indiana (Republic’s secondary plant), and Buffalo, New York (Curtiss-Wright produced P-47Gs under license).

The Thunderbolt became a favorite among pilots due to its durability, survivability, and combat effectiveness. It played a crucial role in the air campaigns over Europe and the Pacific, cementing its place as one of WWII's most iconic fighters.

Finally, someone is showing some love for the “eyes in the sky" the epic Poseidon! Thankyou sirs!
