The P-40 "Gloria Lyons" was a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk operated by the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) during World War II. The aircraft gained fame in the Pacific theatre, particularly in the Solomon Islands campaign. It was named after a young woman, Gloria Lyons, who was bedridden with tuberculosis. The crew and pilots took great pride in the aircraft, which featured her name painted on the nose. "Gloria Lyons" became a symbol of resilience and dedication during the intense aerial battles in the Pacific.
