The Jaguar served primarily with RAF Germany squadrons and became one of the RAF’s principal strike aircraft during the late Cold War. It later saw operational service during the Gulf War, where RAF Jaguars flew ground-attack and reconnaissance missions against Iraqi forces. Later upgrades introduced improved avionics, navigation systems, laser designation capability, and compatibility with precision-guided weapons. More than 570 Jaguars were built for Britain, France, export customers, and licence production in India, while the RAF operated the aircraft until its retirement from operational service in 2007.
