E-3 Sentry Structured Twill Cap
The E-3 became one of the most important airborne command-and-control aircraft of the Cold War and post-Cold War era. USAF, NATO, RAF, French, and Saudi Sentry fleets supported air defence and coalition operations during the Gulf War, the Balkans campaigns, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. The RAF operated seven E-3D Sentry AEW.1 aircraft from 1991 until 2021, while NATO's E-3A Component remains the world's only multinational airborne early warning force. Despite being progressively replaced by newer aircraft such as the Boeing E-7 Wedgetail, the E-3 established the operational model followed by many modern AEW&C platforms.
