The C-2 Greyhound has been a critical Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) aircraft for the U.S. Navy since the 1960s, supporting fleet operations in conflicts such as the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan War. It transported personnel, mail, and high-priority cargo to aircraft carriers, ensuring uninterrupted operations.

Several Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons (VRC and VR) operated the C-2. VRC-30 "Providers" (West Coast, NAS North Island) and VRC-40 "Rawhides" (East Coast, NAS Norfolk) were the primary squadrons delivering supplies worldwide. VRC-50 "Foo Dogs" supported forward-deployed carriers in the Western Pacific, operating from NAF Atsugi, NAS Cubi Point, and Andersen AFB, Guam, before disbanding in 1994. VR-24 "Lifting Eagles" provided logistics support in the Mediterranean and European theaters.
