The C-130 Hercules is one of the most successful and enduring military aircraft in history. First flown in 1954 and still in production today, the Hercules was designed as a tactical airlifter capable of operating from short, unprepared runways to deliver troops, cargo, and supplies directly to the front lines. Rugged, versatile, and famously dependable, the C-130 has become the backbone of military air transport operations for over 70 countries.

Powered by four Allison (now Rolls-Royce) turboprop engines, the C-130 can carry up to 20 tons of cargo or more than 90 troops, with the ability to airdrop loads or land on dirt strips just 3,000 feet long. Its adaptability is legendary—it has been converted into gunships (AC-130), weather recon aircraft, tankers, medevac transports, firefighting tankers, and even maritime patrol platforms.

The Hercules has seen action in virtually every U.S. conflict since Vietnam, including Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, the Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and countless humanitarian missions worldwide. Its rugged airframe and unmatched reliability in extreme environments—from Arctic ice runways to jungle clearings—have made it a favourite among aircrews.

More than 2,500 C-130s have been built in dozens of variants, and the modern C-130J Super Hercules continues the legacy with upgraded engines, avionics, and performance. Whether dropping paratroopers, evacuating wounded, refuelling helicopters, or delivering disaster aid, the C-130 remains the definitive "do-it-all" aircraft—an aviation icon that shows no signs of slowing down.

Why are the stripes vertical?
Great question - and you're absolutely right that the U.S. flag is usually displayed with horizontal stripes. But in this design, we’ve reimagined the flag as an artistic tribute rather than a literal representation. We chose to depict the flag as if it were hanging vertically from above, similar to how it might appear draped at a hangar entrance or suspended during a ceremony.  This vertical orientation allows the iconic silhouette of the aircraft to really shine -with the red and white stripes running the length of the fuselage, it creates a bold, centred look while still honouring the flag’s spirit and symbolism.

Flex fit , embroidered lettering and good shipping time. That's all you need from a hat and I Love Hangar delivered!

Hat was ok but I'd tried to change size from mistake size X/XL to S/M within 15 minutes of ordering. Sent a message to change but no response. X/XL was sent and had to give hat away as it was too big. Subsequently ordered T-38 in correct size. Waiting on it now.

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry the hat wasn’t the right size and that your request to change it didn’t come through - understandably frustrating.

We’ve checked our support records and weren’t able to locate anymessage linked to your order. If you’re able to forward the original request to us, we’ll investigate what happened and make sure nothing is missed in future.

As noted on our product pages and at checkout, orders go into production immediately after being placed, which means changes can’t be made once an order is submitted. That said, this would have been covered under our Apparel Size Guarantee, and we would have happily arranged a replacement in the correct size.

Since you’ve already placed a new order, we’ve gone ahead and refunded that order for you.
