The top hat and cane dates back to 75 Squadron in the late 1950s, later appearing on early Mirage III tail markings alongside the black and white diamond pattern. The motif was eventually replaced by the squadron’s now-official magpie emblem, which reflects the aggressive and territorial nature associated with the unit’s fighting character. Today the magpie remains the identifying symbol of No. 75 Squadron and appears on the squadron’s official crest, patches, and unit insignia.
