The F-35 Lightning II is a fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter developed by Lockheed Martin for the U.S. military and allied nations. Designed for air superiority, ground attack, electronic warfare, and intelligence gathering, it features stealth technology, advanced sensors, and networked combat capabilities. The F-35’s helmet-mounted display system (HMDS) projects flight data directly onto the pilot’s visor, eliminating the need for a traditional heads-up display (HUD)—a first for a U.S. fighter. This lets pilots "see through" the aircraft using cameras, greatly improving situational awareness.

The F-35 comes in three variants: the F-35A (conventional takeoff, used by air forces), the F-35B (short takeoff/vertical landing for the Marines and Royal Navy), and the F-35C (carrier-capable, used by the U.S. Navy). It has been adopted by Australia, the UK, Japan, Israel, and NATO allies, seeing combat operations in the Middle East.
