The A-4 Skyhawk was a lightweight, carrier-capable attack aircraft designed for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. A total of 2,960 were built between 1954 and 1979. Known for its agility and compact size, it saw extensive combat in several conflicts.

The Skyhawk played a major role in the Vietnam War, conducting bombing missions for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. It was also used in the Falklands War (1982) by Argentina, where it damaged multiple Royal Navy ships. Israel flew the A-4 in the Yom Kippur War (1973), while Kuwait used it in the Gulf War (1991).

Despite being primarily an attack aircraft, the A-4 scored several air-to-air kills. Argentine A-4s downed at least one British Harrier during the Falklands War (though disputed), and Israeli A-4s claimed kills against Arab fighters in past conflicts.
