The red centre was removed to reduce the risk of confusion with the Japanese hinomaru.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nAt first, units replaced the red centre with white, but the bright marking reduced the effectiveness of the aircraft’s camouflage. A paler blue was then produced by mixing the standard roundel blue with white in roughly equal proportions.
